This week we will begin Unit 3 on Fractions. Students will begin learning about fractional parts and equivalent fractions. Click for the family letter.This week we will be reviewing for our test which will be on Thursday and Friday. I will send home an answer key to the study guide tomorrow, when we have new copiers! Let me know if you have any questions!This week we begin to learn about long division. Students will learn the steps for solving long division problems. We will have a graded assignment on Friday over long division so I can see who needs additional practice! There are great resosurces and videos below!This week we will be learning about multiplicaiton and division relationships, or multiplication and division fact families. Students will also learn key vocabulary terms like dividend, quotient, and divisor. We will have a quiz on Thursday over multiplication, area models, the distributive property, and relating multiplication and division.This week we will continue reviewing multiplication of 2 digit by 2 digit numbers. Additionally, I will show students another strategy to help them solve 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication problems. Students will learn about using area models to help them solve the problems. See the video below for additional information. The study guide should be coming home this week, too!This week we will be learning about prime and composite numbers, as well as mutliplying 2 digit by 2 digit numbers. On Friday, we will have a quiz on factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers, and 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication.This week we will be taking our Pre-Assessment for Unit 2, Multiplication and Division. Once graded, students will create a goal to work on during Data Tracking for rotations. Please click the link for the Family Letter to learn about the standards addressed in this Unit. We will begin this week learning about factors, products, and multiples. This week we will be reviewing for our first Unit test on Place Value, which will take place on Thursday and Friday of this week. I will return the quizzes on Tuesday for you to use to study from, and I will give students the answer key to the study guide. Additionally, we will be reviewing both Tuesday and Wednesday going over practice problems for the test. We will take the quiz over two days so students are not overwhelmed.
